As early as the 12th century, the famous geographer El Idrissi already testified to the splendor of manual weaving art in Mahdia – the former capital of the Fatimid Empire, which has managed to preserve this ancestral heritage through the centuries. By capitalizing on this millennia-old expertise, S K I L A helps restore Mahdia to its former glory to re-emerge as the regional capital of silk weaving.
