Photo Exhibition Opening — Weaving the Colors of Mahdia by Ines Mahjoub

From August 2 to 9, 2024, the SKILA showroom in Mahdia hosted a unique artistic event: the opening of the photography exhibition “Weaving the Colors of Mahdia” by young artist Ines Mahjoub. This exhibition invites visitors on a true sensory journey through Mahdia’s landscape, where the shades of sky and sea converse with texture and fabric.

Following Nadia Zouari’s exhibition at SKILA, photography enthusiast Ines Mahjoub initiated this project, driven by the desire to illuminate Mahdia through her lens. In her email, she shared:
“Since Nadia Zouari’s exhibition in your boutique, I wanted to reflect on an artistic project about Mahdia. (…) I was inspired by the beauty of Mahdia, highlighting the colors of the sky and the sea during sunsets and sunrises. I wanted to stay aligned with the motto written on your website: ‘The infinite colors of the horizon—between earth, sea and sky, from sunrise to sunset—bring a refined touch to the SKILA universe.’”

Through her sensitive vision, each photograph presented in the exhibition reveals a subtle chromatic harmony: the golden hues of dawn blending with the deep blues of dusk, echoing the unique threads and textures of SKILA scarves. Ines even proposed an original idea: pairing each photograph with a specific scarf, creating a bridge between visual art and textile art.

The success of the opening event reflects SKILA’s ability to transform its space into a true living gallery, where photography, fashion and heritage converse and enrich one another. Visitors were able to journey, for the length of an exhibition, through the inspiring and colorful landscapes of Mahdia.
