On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the Mahdia Museum gathered lovers of culture and heritage for the presentation of the book “Mahdia Intemporelle”, an original creation supported by SKILA, reflecting its unwavering commitment to the cultural and artistic vitality of the city.
This singular book is the result of a collaborative effort shaped by several artistic sensibilities: the luminous preface by Alya Hamza, the photographic vision of Mona Fkih Khouaja, the delicate writing of Nadia Zouari, and the determination of the project’s initiator, Hassine Labaied. Through this ambitious project, SKILA reaffirms its desire to weave living bonds between the actors of local creativity and its deep affection for Mahdia.
“Mahdia Intemporelle” invites the reader on an imaginary journey: a bird—symbol of memory and remembrance—flies over the city and pauses wherever wonder arises: a monument, an alleyway, a horizon veiled in light. This poetic thread, conceived as a tribute to the soul of Hassine Labaied’s father, floats between past and future, calling for contemplation and connection.
The book unveils an unexpected Mahdia, captured through the sensitive lens of Mona Fkih Khouaja, a gifted autodidact who offers a nuanced and intimate vision of the city, far from conventional clichés or saturated colors. The voice of Nadia Zouari—journalist, painter, and exhibition curator—beautifully accompanies the unique atmosphere of each page, expressing a heartfelt attachment to this exceptional territory.
This publication is supported by Skila, or Malek Hamza, a proud daughter of Mahdia who pays homage not only to her city but also to an entire generation of builders who shaped its singular identity.
The book’s refined layout, crafted by editor Nadia Jeljeli, elevates the entire work with passion and professionalism, making “Mahdia Intemporelle” as precious to the people of Mahdia as to curious souls seeking beauty and authenticity.
With this publication, SKILA does more than support an editorial project; the brand celebrates the history, memory, and future of Mahdia through the strength of collective creativity, reinforcing its role as a driving force behind local cultural and artistic initiatives.
The presentation evening was a meaningful shared experience—an invitation to emotion, transmission, and the preservation of Mahdia’s unique heritage.
